1. How fast is Verizon DSL service?
Verizon offers three service choices:
• Up to 768 Kb download and up to 128 Kb upload
• Up to 3 Mbps download up to 384 Kb upload
• Up to 3 Mbps download up to 768 Kb upload

3. Does Verizon DSL offer parental controls?
Yes, the Verizon Internet Security Suite includes Anti-Virus, Pop-Up Blocker, Anti-Spyware, firewall and Parental Controls. Verizon DSL offers two software options with your self installation kit:
1. MSN Premium with Internet Security Suite
2. Verizon DSL with Internet Security Suite
Customers who select MSN Premium will be billed $4.95 month for the Internet Security Suite.
Customers who select Verizon DSL will receive the Internet Security Suite at no charge.
4. Does Verizon DSL offer a static IP address?
Static IP addresses are only available thru Verizon Business DSL. For more information please call 866-765-1660.
5. How much web space does Verizon DSL include?
Verizon DSL provides 10 MB of online storage.
6. Does Verizon DSL charge for Technical Support?
Free Technical Support is available 24 hours a day.
7. Is Verizon DSL service compatible with Apple computers?
Yes, if you're a Macintosh user you will be able to enjoy most benefits of the Verizon DSL service including a customized home page, enhanced email services, and advanced web tools. The minimum requirements are:
• Operating System: Apple Macintosh OS 10.1-10.2
• Processor: PowerPC with speed 120 Mhz or higher
• Memory: 64MB
• Hard Drive: 20 MB free hard drive space
• Other: CD-ROM or DVD drive, USB Port or a 10Base-T Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC)
NOTE: MSN 8 is not available for Macintosh
To install and use MSN Premium Internet Software with your Verizon DSL service, your PC must have...
• Processor: 500 MHz or faster Intel Pentium Processor or equivalent (800 MHz recommended)
• Memory: 128 MB of RAM
• Hard Drive: 320 MB of free hard drive space to install (after install 180 MB of free hard drive space may be needed)
8. Do I need an additional phone line for Verizon DSL?
No, with Verizon DSL your existing phone line is "split" to allow voice and data transmission at the same time. No additional line is required.
9. Do I need an Internet service provider like AOL in addition to the Verizon DSL service?
No, Verizon DSL is an all inclusive Internet service provider.
10. What does a modem do?
A DSL modem is a device that’s needed for your computer to communicate at high speeds with the Internet.
11. What happens if I move?

* Note - If you purchased the service as part of a term contract, your term begins on service activation date. If you disconnect your service prior to the end of the term contract, you will be charged an Early Termination Fee of $79.00. During your contract, if you move your service to an area where Verizon provides telephone service but Verizon DSL is unavailable your early termination fee will be waived. If you move to a non-Verizon territory or do not keep the Verizon DSL service for the full length of your term agreement, you will be charged the early termination fee.
12. Can I choose my own username and email address?
Yes, you will be instructed on how to create your username, email address and password during the installation process.
13. Will Vonage or any other Voice Over IP Service (VoIP) work with Verizon DSL?
Yes, Vonage (or any other VoIP provider) will work with Verizon DSL. For more detailed information contact your VoIP provider for technical assistance.
14. What if I cannot complete the self installation or require professional installation?
Detailed setup instructions will be included with your self installation kit. Most Verizon DSL customers find they are able to complete their self installation without assistance. Professional installation is available and ranges from $199 depending on region.
15. I have my own modem, can I use it?
Verizon DSL will provide a modem free of charge with your installation kit. You may also use your own modem, however, it will not be supported if you require technical assistance.
16. What is a NIC card?
A NIC (or "NICK") card is a network interface, or is also known as an "Ethernet Adapter" that is on the back panel of the computer and connects to the cable modem. Most computers sold in the last 5 years have them pre-installed.
17. Can I keep my current (Yahoo, Hotmail, Google etc.) email address?
Yes, ordering Verizon DSL will not affect your web mail account.
